Hours to a new year.

Contradicting the usual celebration. I am staying home, painting and sleeping early tonight while everyone else is counting down and cheering outside, looking at the beautiful fireworks that renders the night sky. This decision has nothing to do with negative emotions, i am in fact, pretty subtle & calm now, feeling a generous sense of inner joy.Almost euphoria like.

There are 4 reasons for not ending this year outside:

Crowds
I'm not antisocial, but i never like places which has a lot of people. Restricted traffic flows makes a place very dense, hot & full of weird odors. That is not the kind of thing i can enjoy.Plus, the risk of inheriting the H1N1 disease is higher with that number of people involved.

Fights

There is always fights for no reason. Race vs Race, Gangs vs Gangs, Inter school matches and so on. It pretty ruins my mood, starting your new year by watching idiots bashing each others head till it bleeds. Better stay home, and make a nice painting of the joys that i have for 2010 on a 16" x 20" canvas.

Police

When there is police, there is trouble. With so many police operating, its pretty hard not to get into troubles. I basically do not like to take out my license and IC to be checked. On critical situations, police might have to control crowds by using "necessary force" whether u are innocent or not.and i dont want to to get involved in that kind of situation.

Foam Spray

Either u are holding a can of spray or not, you'll get sprayed. Inhaling spray every time there is a celebration is not something that i would enjoy. The aftermath of that would be the tin cans that covers almost all surface of the streets. It shows how responsible & disciplined Malaysians are when it comes to sustainable living.Always talk about being green, and walking with those "I am not plastic" bags, but hell no, you know no shit about sustainability. Plus, i don't find what is fun, spraying foam on people's faces, in fact it increases chances of robbery and sexual harassment since walking with such sprays are considered legal still. The foam spray was originally something fun to play with, but because of the way it is used, and disposed, i rather this item being banned from usage.

To my dear friends out there, please be careful with your belongings, have fun watching the fireworks, and wish you all, a Happy New Year, full of meaningful moments & spirit.
