"It was Monday, 3pm
It was my first lecture,
The first lecture class experience
for the students as well."
Chapter 1
I walked in the class and plugged my foamy thumbdrive in and started my lecture...
Chapter 2
It was rather quiet and most of them don't even talk much to each other, just listening attentively, or was it just an illusion? Are they losing me or am i losing them? The slides were out and i start to build an interactive environment, encouraging them that, in this course, there should be no fear to make mistakes, because we will identify and fix them anyway. I also told them that design is not a subject to be taught, it is only meant to be shared. In design, there is no right or wrong, only good of bad. Building programmes that doesn't working well in France 100 years ago worked perfectly well in this era.
Chapter 3
They were aware about the iconic bald decorator who appeared on TV shows, and being a successful businessman, he earn contacts, and bring in professional IDs from the industry to aid the design courses in his college. Students realized that his works are not meant for reference and not to mistakenly take him as an idol when it comes to this course.
In every design primary elements explained, the students were required to show their understanding by sketching it their way. From my observation, the learning was effective, as they are able to define to me in their way, what are those elements are to them. From there, a mild critical thinking was involved. Interaction is getting better.
Chapter 4
Battre le fer pendant qu'il est chaud. to strike iron while it's hot
